What does Blue and Green mean to the Marshall Rams?
As you enter General Marshall Middle School, you will see that the building has been designed to reflect the themes attached to the historical Robert Mueller Municipal Airport. The gyms and performance arts spaces look like a hangar, and our learning "wing" literally looks like the wing of an airplane.
Look to the left or the right, and you will see the designers were intentional about crafting the idea of the green ground that supports us and limitless blue open skies of opportunity.
When we think of blue and green at Marshall, it means we will strive to stay grounded in who we are as we access the limitless possibilities for our lives.
Our Story
We will be opening our doors to the inaugural class this Fall 2023. We are located in Northeast Austin in the Mueller community. Our school is open for enrollment to families who are zoned to the following elementary schools: Andrews, Blanton, Harris, Jordan, Overton, Pecan Springs, Norman-Sims, and Winn Montessori.
Marshall Middle School will serve a cohort of 6th grade students in year one. We will continue to add on a 7th and 8th grade in the next two years. Our goal is to create a joyful environment where teaching and learning is fun! We are equity-minded and believe social emotional learning should be ongoing in ALL classrooms for ALL students.
Our school is named after Dr. Marshall, who was a beloved Mathematics professor at the premier Austin Historically Black College or University (HBCU), Huston-Tillotson University. HT's mascot is the Rams. We believe our learners will reflect the Rams' characteristics of strength, intelligence, and bravery in our classes, performances, competitions, and daily interactions with each other.
