The Ram Report - 8/31-9/4

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Back to School Night! It was wonderful seeing our hallways filled with parents, guardians, and community members eager to meet our teachers and support our students. A huge shoutout goes to our incredible Dance Team and student leaders, their hard work with setup and cleanup made the entire evening run seamlessly, and their help was so greatly appreciated. The event was a total success, even though I am mad at myself for getting so caught up in the excitement that I forgot to take any photos to share! Speaking of great events, if you missed our 8th-grade volleyball matches this past week, you missed a complete nail-biter and a phenomenal performance. Both our A and B teams dominated the court and started our home season opener off strong!

Also, some exciting news for our campus! Marshall Middle School has been invited to be featured in an upcoming episode of CBS’s "America ByDESIGN," a national show highlighting exceptional architectural design across the country. Filming will take place on campus this Thursday, September 3rd. A small crew from CBS, alongside representatives from LPA Design Studios, and our district bond communications team, will be capturing footage of our modernized spaces and highlighting the positive impact these new facilities have on teaching and learning. Please rest assured that filming will not be entering to disrupt our classes. The crew will focus primarily on areas without students present, with the exception of just two specific classes where filming will take place very briefly. We will speak directly with those affected teachers and students tomorrow to share details and coordinate next steps. For students in those two classes, they will be sent home with a specific media release form from CBS. Please note participation is completely optional and we will ensure students are taken care of that choose to opt out of filming.

As we move into the week, we have a few important updates to keep on your radar. First, our very first Campus Advisory Council (CAC) meeting is coming up this Thursday at 5:30 pm, and we would love to have strong parent and community involvement. We are looking for members to serve on our CAC for this year, so please apply at www.austinisd.org/advisory-bodies/cac/application if you are interested!

Additionally, student Schedule Correction Request Forms are due this Friday by 5:00 PM. Please keep in mind that our team is prioritizing necessary schedule corrections only right now, as we still need to level our classes and update teacher rosters ahead of our district deadline. Please use this link to access the form: https://forms.gle/67BmimnTpVKeuBca9

Finally, we have a long three-day weekend to look forward to for Labor Day. I hope everyone enjoys the extra time to relax with family, and I wish you all a fantastic week ahead!
